Journal Entry:When you run a marathon you're actaully running two the physical one and the one in your head.

Performance art is an artwork or art exhibition created through actions executed by the artist or other participants. It may be witnessed live or through documentation, spontaneously developed or written, and is traditionally presented to the public in a fine art context in an interdisciplinary mode.

When I first met Shia, I was somewhat familiar with certain public stunts he had done like when he famously wore a brown paper bag over his head with the statement " I am not famous anymore" on the red carpet or when he rented out an entire movie theater and invited fans to watch all of his movies with him but it wasn't until we really started working together that I became more acquainted with him and the craft of  "Performance Art."

I realized It was something that I had always been drawn to ever since I saw the film Forest Gump. My favorite part of that entire movie was always the fact that after both his mother dying and Jenny leaving him, he got up one day and just decided to run. For 3 years he ran across America and what started out as a solo endeavour slowly became a spectacle that moved and gave people hope.

Those are my favorite types of art performances the ones that don't necessarily set out to generate a feeling but through sheer truth and action create one nonetheless. I ran 30 miles straight not just to prove a best friend wrong or to prep for a film but to hopefully demonstrate what the body and more importantly what the mind is capable of doing.

Down below I've included some of my favorite art performances from Kevin Abstract running on a treadmill for 10 hours straight to my mentor dropping his coordinates and allowing complete random strangers to pick him up and as the project suggests "Take Him Anywhere". These Art Performances show what can happen when you allow yourself to be vulnerable and trust that a connection can be made not just by the people making said project but by the people on the receiving end.
